Response to the embargo was to dev elop its own defense industry. In 1984, the company Meche was the first prototype of a new sub-machine gun, similar to the U.S. Ingram M10 machine gun. Over the next several years testing prototypes and lasted 1988 years submachine gun was introduced into production.
